On HK day 6, we are going to the land of fantasy – Disneyland! 🙂

Sun Wah Café
Disneyland
HK Day 6 – Breakfast – Sun Wah Café
Sun Wah Cafe serves up a marvelous rendition of ham omelette and satay beef instant noodles. While they are not as well known amongst international audiences as say the Australia Dairy Company, Kam Wah Cafe or even the Capital Cafe, the food quality at Sun Wah is really top notch. We highly recommend this place if the location is not too inconvenient for your itinerary. See more at Sun Wah Cafe 新華茶餐廳!
HK Day 6 – How to go to Disneyland?
Before going to Disneyland, be sure to check the opening hours and shows/parades timings HERE!
From Sun Wah Cafe, we chose the most convenient way to go to Disneyland – by MTR. From the nearest station at the breakfast place – Cheung Sha Wan, we took MTR towards Tseung Wan and transferred to Tung Chung Line at Lai King station. After that, we finally transferred to the Disneyland Resort line at Sunny Bay.

HK Day 6 – The Disney Themed Train
The only train service available to reach Disneyland is the Disneyland resort line travelling between Sunny Bay station and Disneyland Resort station. It’s the world’s first metro line designed to service a Disney theme park.

Here comes the train to Disneyland!
We were quite early (around 9:15 am), so there weren’t many people in the train.

The windows are shaped like Mickey mouse’s head!

Bronze statues of well-known Disney characters can be found in the train too!

Even the train handrails resemble Mickey Mouse

Here we are! Finally reached Disneyland Resort station 🙂

Our Disneyland entry tickets
We pre-purchased the Disneyland park tickets with food vouchers at a discounted price from Taobao. For more details, please see our HK Day 1! Otherwise, Disneyland park tickets can be purchased from their official website or their ticket booth near the entrance 🙂
Here’s a gentle reminder, selfie sticks are banned in all Disney theme parks. There will be a screening/security check at the park entrance so make sure you don’t have any prohibited items with you.
HK Day 6 – Inside the Park
We went in as soon as the park opened at 10 a.m. Right after that photo in the park, we immediately went to City Hall near the entrance to collect this:

Disneyland Birthday Pin
Yes, it was his birthday! With this cute Disney Birthday Pin clipped on his shirt, the Disney characters and Disneyland staffs we met throughout the day were greeting him birthday wishes with great smiles 🙂 If you are visiting Disneyland on your birthday, do remember to collect this pin from City Hall!
Right after we collected the birthday pin, we went straight to join the queue that formed at the main street U.S.A center roundabout. The queue got longer and longer after we joined. So what’s there at the end of the queue?

It’s photo taking session with Mickey and Minnie!

Hello Mickey & Minnie 🙂
If you are arriving Disneyland at noon and found that Mickey and Minnie are no longer there at main street U.S.A, fret not. They can still be found at Fantasy Garden with some other Disney characters for photo taking sessions with the public at certain timings 🙂

Sleeping Beauty Castle
If you are visiting Disneyland on weekends or if the park is crowded, do get the “FastPass” for the “Space Mountain Roller Coaster” and “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”. You may get the FastPass in advance and return at specific time frames. We were lucky enough because there weren’t long queues for all the attractions that day so “FastPass” was not necessary.

HK Day 6 – Lunch @ Starliner Diner

Starliner Diner – where we had our lunch (western cuisine)

Queuing for the food
We used the food voucher we bought previously to buy two sets of mixed grill set. The normal price for this meal is HK$258. The Disneyland food vouchers were purchased from Taobao and collected on our HK Day 1. Each food voucher includes a lunch set, a dinner set and a popcorn/ice stick.

HK Day 6 – The Flights of Fantasy Parade

The Flights of Fantasy Parade
It was the Flights of Fantasy Parade time! All of the favorite Disney characters can be seen at the Disneyland parades. Besides the Flights of Fantasy Parade, there will be another parade in the evening which is different from this one. The parades are one of the highlights of Disneyland, be sure to catch a nice spot near the main street before it started 🙂 The route of the parade is indicated on the map.

The Disney princesses. So lovely!

Woody came so close!
HK Day 6 – After The Parade
The Disney characters can be found at different corners in the park for photo shooting sessions at certain timings. But the characters who participate in the parade will be leaving their photo spots half an hour before the parade starts. If you were unable to grab a chance to take photos with your favorite characters, try your luck by waiting for them at their photo shooting spots right after the parade ends. In addition, the staff at Disneyland are very friendly and helpful, you may check the photo taking session timings with them 🙂

We went straight to queue for Elsa and Anna from the movie ‘Frozen’ right after the parade ended. They look like dolls!

HK Day 6 – Dinner @ The Royal Banquet Hall
Initially, we wanted to have our dinner at Explorer’s Club Restaurant at Mystic Point as per recommended by the staff in the park. But unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t opened that day. So we decided to go for the Royal Banquet Hall at Fantasyland instead. That wasn’t a bad choice 🙂

For dinner, we also used the food vouchers that we had pre-purchased to get our food at the Royal Banquet Hall restaurant. Both of us had ordered the Royal Mixed Grill Combo. The normal price for two sets of this dish costs a total of HK$276.

HK Day 6 – Disney Paint the Night

When the night falls on Sleeping Beauty Castle
There are many souvenir shops scattered around Disneyland. But if you feel that there is not enough time to play and yet you wish to buy souvenirs from Disneyland, I would recommend buying at the biggest store located at main street U.S.A which includes almost everything you could find at other smaller stores.

Lights on at main street U.S.A
The highlight of the night – Disney Paint the Night Parade! The parade at night is full of illuminating lights!

“Disney in The Stars” Fireworks
Before the park closed, there was a 12-minute long fireworks took place at the Sleeping Beauty Castle. But due concerns of a potentially massive crowd of people going to the MTR right after the park closes, we decided to leave the park slightly earlier, before the fireworks ended. It was such a pity that we weren’t able to finish the whole show but we wouldn’t want to be stuck in the long queue for MTR.
