Antoinette has added more croissants to their menu!

Antoinette really knows how to milk the croissant craze for all its worth. In the short span of a few weeks, they have added the Chilli Crab Croissant, Salted Caramel Croissant and the Scallion Arlette. If you recall from Part 1 of our review, we were thoroughly impressed with the deliciousness of Antoinette’s French croissants. We think that their plain croissants would probably taste heavenly – its unfortunate that those are not for sale.

Service and Ordering

Well, despite the rapid fire release of more croissant variations, we are happy to note that the crowd at Antoinette on a weekend morning has greatly diminished compared to the full house that we had to endure a few weeks ago. That’s right, Antoinette isn’t super crowded now, so it’s your chance to try their croissants now!

With the decreased foot traffic we have to say that their service standard has gone back up to what we were used to.

Yes, there is real crab meat inside. The chef went to great lengths to infuse authentic delicious Singaporean chilli crab into their French croissant. We can hardly call this French anymore but we were very impressed with the taste. The chilli crab went surprisingly well with the French croissant. The fragrance coupled with the dash of spiciness is super delicious when paired with the super crispy and buttery croissant. We rate this 4.2/5, and you can get it at S$7.50.

Antoinette Salted Caramel Croissant 1

Salted Caramel Croissant

We have to admit that we mistook the pre-release press photos of their latest croissant as a molten chocolate croissant. It looks very similar but Antoinette’s newest croissant offering is the Salted Caramel Croissant! This was really really sweet and it is perfect for those with a sweet tooth. The caramel fragrance engulfs the croissant as it flows out so do prepare for a bit of a mess. We rate this 4/5 and you can get it at S$6.

We discovered that Chef Pang was choosing between introducing either the chocolate or salted caramel croissants for their latest launch and they chose salted caramel. We think they got it wrong! We can’t imagine anything tasting more delicious than a properly done molten chocolate croissant. Like seriously?

Scallion Arlette @ S$3.50 – this is the French version of the Taiwanese 葱油饼 (cōng yóu bǐng), we think it would have been better just plain – 3.8/5

Antoinette and Grand Cru Macaroons

These are gorgeous and we couldn’t resist grabbing a pair on our way out. The Antoinette macaroon on the left has their signature milk chocolate earl grey tea ganache with raspberry confiture, and it has a very similar taste to their signature Antoinette petit cake. The Grand Cru macaroon has just pure dark chocolate. The sugar coated outer layer is very slightly crispy, and the inside is very soft and delicious – not too sweet and just right. We rate these macaroons 4/5 and you can get them at S$2.80 for the Antoinette and S$2.50 for the Grand Cru.

Final Thoughts

Well Antoinette really does know how to ride the wave of fads and trends. After their Salted Egg Yolk Croissant was rated by the Straits Times’ expert panel as the best in Singapore, they have released a new croissant variety almost once every week. In the end, the consumers are the winners as Chef Pang at Antoinette really knows how to make a super delicious croissant! Oh how we wish that they chose the chocolate croissant over salted caramel one though.
