Morganfield’s – These Are Some Really Delicious Ribs!

Morganfield’s has taken Singapore by storm over the last few years, opening three of their super delicious rib restaurants at Star Vista, Suntec City and VivoCity. These guys don’t mess around, Morganfield’s ribs are incredibly delicious and they are one of the best that I have tasted in Singapore. Yes, I love ribs – so I can say that with some authority.

Morganfield’s was actually founded in 2012 by a dentist, one Dr Jeffrey Goh from Malaysia. This guy is no slouch – from 1999 to 2009 he headed the Revenue Valley Group of Companies that owned The Manhattan Fish Market and the regional franchises of Tony Roma’s and Popeyes, among others. After he sold off the group, his hands got itchy and in 2012, he decided to open a restaurant that specialises in pork ribs in Malaysia, where 70% of the population can’t eat pork. Yes, that was Morganfield’s, and the rest is history.

Morganfield’s is now a regional heavyweight with outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, China and the Philippines.

Service and Ordering

The service at Morganfield’s has always been great. We suggest trying their signature Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs as it is probably the most delicious of the lot. If you are in a group you could consider their Morgan’s Rib Sampl3R that comes with a choice of three flavours of their delicious sticky bones ribs. Their regular ribs choices are their Garlic BBQ Spare Ribs, Spicy Asian BBQ Spare Ribs and Smoked Peppercorn Spare Ribs.

Occasionally, Morganfield’s will have seasonal promotions, and we were fortunate enough to be invited to their Christmas menu launch with an array of delicious dishes such as their Cranberry and Hazelnut Sticky Bones, and their Black Angus Beef Ribs.

So, how good are their ribs? Read on for our ratings.

Morganfield’s Signature Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs

The best American ribs are succulent, tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce has to be fragrant and it must be thoroughly infused into the ribs during barbecuing. The meat should be so tender that you can simply use your fingers to easily pry the ribs apart.

Morganfield’s Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs hits all the right notes. The meat is super tender and super juicy. The sauce is fragrant and utterly delicious. You can get addicted to these ribs, and personally I would eat them very often if they had hawker centre pricing. The one blemish here is that Morganfield’s will include a generous amount of meat around the ribs, and often those parts will not be as tender or juicy as the meat from the ribs proper.

Nonetheless, we give these ridiculously delicious ribs 4.4/5. Yes, we haven’t given such a high rating in a while and we are happy to do so here. You can get their full slab at S$41.90 or their half slab at S$27.90. Get their full slab. Do it.

Morgan’s Rib Sampl3R Triple the flavour, triple the fun

If you go in a group, you can order their sharing platters! This is their Morgan’s Rib Sampl3R, with a choice of any 3 half slabs of their sticky bones ribs flavours, some grilled sausages, garden salad, grilled corn on the cob, corn bread and french fries.

This thing is really super super filling! You could easily feed 4 or 5 people with this, and it is priced at S$122.90. If you want to try all their flavours at once with a group of friends, this is a good option.

Morganfield’s Weekend Ribs Buffet

Okay now this is just insane. You get free flow of Morganfield’s delicious sticky bones ribs, sausages, roast chicken, sides, soups and desserts. When we were there for their ribs buffet, they had their special Christmas sticky bones rib flavours, the Cranberry and Hazelnut. They also had candied bacon, mac & cheese, sausages, roast pork, roast chicken, beef ribs, baked potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, a ham spread, cornbread and chocolate log cakes – now we are sure that we missed some stuff.

The incredible thing is the price. This is only S$40 – plus taxes and service charge. You would usually have to pay more than S$40 for a full slab of ribs here.

Their ribs buffet is available on weekends and public holidays, from 11am to 4pm. We recommend skipping breakfast and dinner for this. If you want to try their Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs or their other regular rib flavours at the buffet, be sure to call and check that those are available before heading down.

Christmas Special – Eat, Drink & Be Merry at Morganfield’s!

Morganfield’s are back with their annual Christmas special menu. They have the Morgan’s Christmas Feast that comes with one half slab of their Hazelnut Sticky Bones and one half slab of their Cranberry Sticky Bones, as well as some Crackling Pork Roast, Gammon Ham, sausages, garden salad, roasted potatoes, cornbread, grilled corn, roasted cauliflower and roasted pumpkin. You can see everything pictured above on that rectangular plate to the left – it goes for S$149.90.

You can also individually order their Cranberry Sticky Bones, Hazelnut Sticky Bones, Black Angus Beef Ribs, Crackling Pork Roast, Roast Chicken and Candied Bacon. Remember, these are Christmas specials that are only available for a limited time at Morganfield’s.

[X’mas] Cranberry Sticky Bones and Hazelnut Sticky Bones

Their Cranberry Sticky Bones is close to their Hickory BBQ flavour, with the addition of a sweet cranberry taste. This adds a nice twist to their usual signature and we were quite pleased with it. We give it 4.2/5, and you can get it at S$29.90 for a half slab or S$45.90 for a full slab.

The Hazelnut Sticky Bones had a very strong hazelnut flavour and there was very little BBQ flavour left after Morganfield’s special treatment. Hazelnut lovers may love this but we really preferred the cranberry flavour. We rate this 3.9/5, and it is priced identically to their Cranberry Sticky Bones.

[X’mas] Crackling Roast Pork, Black Angus Beef Ribs, Candied Bacon and Roast Chicken

Their Crackling Roast Pork was delicious. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat was tender and flavourful. It was a nice change to try some delicious roast pork as a western restaurant. We rate it 4.1/5 and it is priced at S$38.90.

Their Black Angus Beef Ribs was really good too. If you try it at the buffet, the chef slices it for you on the spot. We must note though that different portions of the ribs may taste quite differently. You may get a slice with some fats, and another slice further down which has full lean meat. We give it 4.2/5 and you must try it with their mustard, hickory BBQ or red wine sauces. This is priced at S$89.90 for that humongous serving of ribs.

We were told by more seasoned diners that the Candied Bacon that they had last year was so delicious that it was the next big thing since sliced bread. Unfortunately the taste did not reach such tremendous heights this time around, and it gave somewhat of a nice bak kwa flavour. We rate it as tasted 4/5 and it costs S$9.90. Their Roast Chicken gets a 3.8/5 from us, and it is priced at S$32.90.

Here are their sausages, mac & cheese, grilled corn on the cob and baked potatoes.

On the dessert table they placed their Gammon Ham spread, mini burgers, chocolate log cakes and cornbread. We loved the Chocolate Log Cake! It was smooth, creamy and deliciously chocolatey. 4.3/5.

Final Thoughts

You must come to Morganfield’s to try their Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs! Those are some really delicious ribs, and we are drooling again just thinking about it. The weekend ribs buffet is incredible value as well. This is the perfect place for a group outings and special occasions. Also, if you spend S$400 on your birthday here at a Morganfield’s Singapore outlet, you will get a free half slab of ribs from them every month!
